Owner Surrenders Not Accepted.

40% of dogs euthanized in the U.S. every year are pitbull type dogs. The worlds most discriminated dog. Help us, help them.

The mission of BelLA's House Of Blues is to save pitbull type and bully-breed dogs from euthanasia in high-kill shelters. We strive to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for these dogs while working diligently to place them into responsible, permanent forever homes.
In addition, the Corporation is committed to assisting and rescuing homeless and at-risk pitbulls within our communities through advocacy, rehabilitation, and compassionate care.

We are obsessed with saving euth listed pitbull-type and bully breed dogs because they are the world’s most hated and most discriminated against dogs. They are judged by labels, not temperament. In overcrowded shelters, they are the first to be killed, not because they’re broken, but because stigma makes them disposable.
We refuse to let human failure be their death sentence.

Supporting rescues isn’t just about helping one dog — it’s about interrupting a system that is failing them. Every donation, every share, every foster home directly pulls a life off a euthanasia list and replaces fear with safety. Rescues step in where shelters are overwhelmed, underfunded, and forced to make impossible decisions.
When you support a rescue, you’re not funding overhead — you’re funding second chances, medical care, rehabilitation, and the belief that no adoptable dog should die for space. You are quite literally the difference between life and death.

Charlene is the founder and President/Ex. Director of BelLA’s House of Blues, driven by an unwavering commitment to saving pitbull type dogs from euthanasia. Her dedication is relentless — what some call obsession, she also calls an obsession ha! Honoring her daughter’s dream is at the heart of this mission. For Charlene, rescuing these misunderstood dogs isn’t just work; it is deeply personal. Giving them a second chance is the medicine that fuels her heart and restores her soul.

Julia is a Director for the rescue, and her love for pitbull type dogs began with her mother, who first introduced her to the breed and showed her their loyalty, sensitivity, and deep capacity for love. What started as childhood admiration has grown into a lifelong commitment to advocacy and rescue. Today, Julia channels that foundation into saving pit bulls from euthanasia, honoring her mother’s influence with every life she helps change.

Eric has been a lifelong pitbull owner and advocate, long before BelLA’s House of Blues was ever an idea. As a Director, he brings steady support, practical perspective, and unwavering loyalty to the mission. Known affectionately as “BelLA’s dad” — and Charlene’s better half, Eric is happiest sharing life with Charlene and their pack of nine, proving every day that pitbulls are family and worth saving.

Maureen’s lifelong love for animals began on her Aunt Martha’s farm in Central Minnesota and grew into a passion for rescuing misunderstood dogs, especially pit bull types. After years of advocacy, training, and rescue work in California, she returned to Minnesota and created the BHOB Rescue Ranch—an 80-acre safe haven where shelter dogs can decompress before entering foster homes. Her own rescued pets continue to inspire her mission to save lives and give dogs the second chances they deserve.

The dogs we lost here are finally safe there — loved by the souls we’d trust with them most.

Some people fall apart from tragedy. Somehow, we chose to build something from it instead.
This rescue is for them. For the love we still carry for our children every single day. For the compassion they had, the softness they left behind in us, and the belief that love should always be louder than suffering.
And maybe that sounds crazy to some people, but I truly believe the dogs we are unable to save are not alone when they leave this world. I believe they find their way to our children. I believe they are finally safe there. Finally warm. Finally loved without pain, fear, abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
I picture our kids greeting every broken shelter dog with open arms, telling them they matter, that they are worthy, that they are finally home.
So when rescue breaks our hearts — and it often does — that belief along with Araya's dream to "save all the pitbulls in the world" is what keeps us going. Because while we fight like hell for the ones we can save here, I believe the ones we lose are still being saved somehow too. 🖤

At BelLA’s House of Blues, we will not sit back while a failing shelter system continues to cost innocent dogs their lives. Silence is complicity. This section, created and led by our Director, Julia, exists to equip our community with the information needed to demand accountability and real reform. Here you will find direct contacts, research, and step-by-step guidance on who to call, who to write, and who must answer for the ongoing shelter crisis. Change will not come from waiting. It will come from pressure — informed, organized, and relentless.
Thanks to Julia, it's a bit easier to fight for the voiceless!

We are proud to expand BelLA’s House of Blues into Minnesota under the leadership of our dedicated board member, Maureen. With the same urgency, compassion, and commitment that defines our mission, Maureen works tirelessly on the ground in Minnesota to advocate for at-risk dogs and create lifesaving opportunities where they are needed most.
Her work focuses on identifying urgent cases, coordinating safe placements, supporting foster networks, and building strong community partnerships to move dogs from crisis to stability. Through her leadership, our mission extends beyond state lines — proving that lifesaving has no borders when the right people are willing to step up.
Because of Maureen, more dogs are given a future they otherwise would not have had.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT OWNER SURRENDERS.
At BelLA’s House of Blues, we strongly believe that bringing a dog into your life is a lifetime commitment, not something to give up when life gets difficult or has a change.
Our resources are dedicated to dogs facing euthanasia and those who are homeless—dogs who have no one left and no other options.
We will not respond to any owner surrender requests. Please view our "RESOURCES" section instead. Thank you.
